Softwaretutor.net was established in 2005 by a group of
past and present university lecturers. Each of the
partners had considerable experience using
computer software in their research work and hold the
same view - students need to learn to use software by
'doing' and working on real life examples. We believe
if we show how something is done and allow students to
copy that procedure using their own computer and
software, then learning becomes a breeze. Moreover, if
we can simulate a one-on-one learning experience while
this is happening, then everyone benefits. We have
achieved great results:
'I started CAD training on Fri & Sat night. I
am very impressed. Not only is it very informative
but a lot of fun also. I wish I had studied
architecture rather than signage. '
'Please find
attached the piece of work I did yesterday in
InDesign. It almost took me ages to complete but
saved my company some cash! I will get faster
I’m sure as it is becoming easier.
I still have a lot to learn but I am so enjoying it,
I am in danger of neglecting my more menial tasks!
Thanks for your really great training. One on one
worked brilliantly for me and I could tell so much
work had gone into your delivery method of teaching
on-line. I was really
impressed. Thanks for your dedication
to excellence,
'The short movies are really
useful. As the old saying goes, "A picture is worth a
thousand words". I admire the way you are able to
combine your computer skills with your CAD skills to
provide a course like this.'
How to use this site:
Use softwaretutor.net by clicking on the course of
interest. If you have enrolled, (either by using PayPal
option or by other arrangement) type your user name and
password in the box and click logon. [User names and
passwords assigned by us are always lower case, but if
you have enrolled on line, any combination of upper and
lower case you choose is allowed.]
When you enter a course, a list of modules is
displayed; each is delivered in a web page. Embedded in
the page are movies which stream to your computer and
show how things are done.
We provide a Q&A forum for each course and
encourage questions. We also will provide feedback if
you send examples of your work. In this way, we
simulate what might happen if you had a tutor at your
elbow.
You can take the course in small steps, completing a
module or part of a module at your leisure.
Although we favour Microsoft's Internet Explorer, your
user name and password should work inside any browser
as long as you have Internet connection.
There is no time limit on how long your course
enrolment stays alive. You should however try and
complete the course within 12 months.
